My Ideal Client

I believe that most people who are seeking out counseling are wanting to make a change, and looking for more connection and/or satisfaction in their lives. It's my goal to create a safe space to sit with your challenging thoughts and emotions, whether that is with you, or you and your partner(s). I support folks experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulty coping with big life transitions, relationship struggles, trauma, and postpartum concerns.

My Background and Approach

I am a Chicago transplant, a former artist, and a mother to two young children. I bring over 13 years of experience supporting adults with mental health challenges and navigating life transitions. My work began in community mental health and an inpatient unit where I counseled adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use issues, oppression, and housing instability. In these roles, I took a collaborative approach, I was a strong advocate for clients, and helped them with navigating systems. These experiences made me curious about trauma and led me down my path. I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helps you explore values, emotions, and thoughts. I use Emotions Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples therapy, this is based in attachment theory and is all about creating safety and connection. I also use Somatic and Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (SAFE EMDR) to process trauma somatically and experientially.

My Values as a Therapist

I come from a background rooted in social justice, where I advocated for others and supported them. I helped people access housing, treatment, employment, and many other resources. My curiosity about the impacts of trauma and oppression led me to pursue specialized training in trauma treatment. I now work from a strengths-based, attachment-focused approach, emphasizing kindness, warmth, positive regard, and collaboration. I believe in helping clients connect with their emotions in a safe and supportive way, to encourage healing within oneself and their partnerships(s) as it pertains to relationship counseling. My hope is to support you feeling comfortable being your authentic self.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I have over 13 years of experience supporting folks who are struggling with anxiety and feelings of panic. Thees symptoms can be overwhelming and isolating, but you don't have to face them alone. I believe that anxiety is shaped by our environments that haven't felt safe, supportive or validating. I offer tools to manage anxiety to help manage symptoms and draw from evidence based therapies like EMDR, CBT, ACT, EFT, and mindfulness to support you in your healing.

  • Depression External link

I have over 13 years of experience supporting people affected by depression. I believe that depression can show up for a reason, it can be part of your system trying to communicate that something needs care, attention, or change. My role is to walk alongside you as we explore what depression may be asking of you. I draw from evidence-based therapies like CBT, EMDR, ACT, and EFT to help you reconnect to yourself and move forward.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Relationships are our biggest sources of joy, and also pain and frustration. I used emotions focused therapy, an attachment-based theory to help clients and their partner(s) heal. I am an EFT trained therapist and believe in the healing power of attachment, connection, and creating safety to foster these. Healing relationships helps heal yourself, your partner(s), perhaps your family and community as well.

  • Postpartum External link

Postpartum is a challenging time, that often triggers our own attachment, parenting issues, and can lead to big questions in our identity and relationships. I have nearly five years of experience with supporting people through postpartum challenges. I have specialized training through Postpartum Support International. I offer a safe and affirming place to navigate this emotionally complex time, using evidence-based therapies like EMDR, ACT, CBT, and EFT to support healing.
