My Ideal Client

It has been my experience that people seeking therapy have some hope that life could be better and they'd like a professional to support that change. I’m a trained and experienced guide who can walk along with you (in my office) on your healing journey, for the duration of our time together. We're likely to sit and talk and feel during sessions. Maybe some laughing and crying.

What I Specialize In

I have professional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), ADHD and autism, with additional focused work to support woman and gender-diverse people on the spectrum, Brief Behavioral Interventions, a Graduate Certificate in Gender Diversity in Children and Youth, and training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). One of the things that drew me to social work for my graduate training is the focus on systems (and social justice).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

It has been my experience that, particularly when our basic needs are met, if we experience a sense of belonging, and affirming relationships (with oneself and others), we can be well. Every minute, day, or season might not be great, and we might be dealing with very difficult things that are natural (eg., sickness and death) or unnatural (eg., racism, homophobia, classism, ableism, exclusion, ...), and yet we can live a life worth living, with joy and gratitude. I work with teens and adults, in-person. Families (defined by you) and younger kids after consultation. When not at work I like to share time with my spouse and our three bunnies. I especially enjoy going for walks in nature, watching stuff, meditating, tinkering with computers and electronics (with particular interest in free and open-source software), DIY, making friends, vegan food carts, volunteering, and reading. My out-of-town travel usually involves co-ops, hot-springs, nature, camping, and sometimes SCUBA diving.
