My Ideal Client

Do you (or your child/teen) have difficulty handling current anxiety, OCD, or stressors, or difficulty moving forward from past trauma? Do you find it challenging to understand or manage your emotional responses? Struggling in your interpersonal relationships? I can support you by combining talk therapy with mindfulness and somatic practices (i.e. breathing practices, meditation, and yoga) to help you better understand how your brain and body work together and build a personal toolbox of skills.

What I Specialize In

I specialize in anxiety, OCD, trauma, stress, relationship conflict, and attachment. I have a particular specialization in adapting interventions for children/teens (age 5+), and also see adults and couples. As a Registered Yoga Teacher, I can incorporate yoga/movement as much as or as little as desired, and am trained in using Therapeutic Yoga to support trauma recovery. Sessions can also include elements of art, play, and games, as desired. I studied Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) under its founding clinical research lab at the University of Washington, and its focus on mindfulness skills will underlie our work together. I use an eclectic approach that integrates multiple mindfulness-based modalities. For OCD clients, I will use compassionately use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to increase tolerance for distress. I primarily use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) in couple's therapy, which focuses on emotion awareness within a relational context.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My goal is to support you (or your child/teen) in building awareness of your thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, values, and actions. Because of my beliefs in the benefits of somatic work, I focus on supporting clients in becoming more aware of their nervous system responses. I believe there is no “one size fits all” therapeutic approach, and I am committed to working with you to create a unique and tailored experience for your life circumstances and at your own pace. I also believe that we are not defined by our diagnoses or labels, and I commit to working with you as a holistic person and to approach you with curiosity and humility. Therapy sessions with me are a safe place to explore/disrupt the patterns such as those of generational trauma, and/or internalized oppression related to race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, or other designations of culture. I am flexible in balancing therapy as a space for skill-building as well as a safe container for processing emotions/events.
