My Ideal Client

My clients are folks who are curious, shy, loud and talkative. My clients are people who make things or want to make things; people who feel deeply; people who have been shut down or shut off or void or numb or afraid; people who tip over with joy -- I am open to working with anyone willing to bring themselves forward. Counseling is a collaborative effort. Within a trusting relationship, clients get help to restructure thinking and shift habitual responses using awareness and compassion.

My Approach to Helping

I offer my clients deep empathy, kindness, and curiosity for and about their lives. I hold space for others. I generate very little judgment. I make room for feeling. I am authentic and don't wear a mask. I believe that each person is the highest authority on their own experience. I view counseling as an opportunity to collaborate on approaches toward healing. I also love to laugh.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I use she and they pronouns. I am a cis, white, temporarily able-bodied person living in Portland, Oregon. I am the parent of a two-year-old person and the partner of an adult person. I hold a masters degree in Counseling from Lewis & Clark College and an MFA in Poetry from Emerson College.. My practice is informed by a strong set of social justice values; access to counseling is one of the cornerstone issues in the dismantling of white supremacy and its oppressive systems. Counseling is one of the oldest human traditions in which a person can begin to heal through the honest and seeing eyes of another.
