My Ideal Client

Most of the people I work with experience anxiety or other mood or trauma-related issues & our efforts together are usually geared towards either understanding those feelings & where they come from, developing ways to minimize the impact &/or developing healthier ways of coping. I enjoy clients who are motivated and open to trying new things. We do this collaboratively by developing treatment goals early on & monitoring progress, celebrating wins along the way.

My Approach to Helping

I have well over a decade of experience helping adults and teens navigate anything from crisis to every day, run-of-the mill problems. My approach is to utilize a holistic combination of IFS, CBT, mindfulness, and some experiential and spiritual-like modalities, customized and tailored to each client I collaboratively work with. On the less technical/jargon side of things, I want my clients to feel like they're showing up to a session feeling safe and seen. I create a space that feels more like talking to an old friend who gets it rather than some stiff who's just nodding along. I keep it professional, but we'll also laugh and be in this together.

My Values as a Therapist

My approach to counseling comes from a caring, collaborative, and holistic framework. I view my role as a practical and nurturing guide whose mission is to help others heal, think differently, and reach their goals, whatever they may be. I believe in focusing on one’s strengths and available resources to inspire creativity, empowerment, and foster change. I believe in equality, in validating feelings, but challenging thoughts/behaviors. I believe that people need non-judgemental safe spaces and that they're often more capable than they give themselves credit for. Essentially, my value is in discovering your value.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

I have a lot of education and experience utilizing IFS, though I do put a bit of my own spin to it and bring in Jungian ideas too. We all have different parts within ourselves- the obsessive part, the nurturer, the go-getter, the fearful one, etc. Sometimes they are at odds or sometimes they even act out, but I believe they all have good intention and with a little love, healing, and repurposing, I help people see that the things they need to run a successful and happy life are already there.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

What therapist doesn't do CBT? It's widely used for a good reason. Often people have faulty beliefs that don't serve them so I help my clients analyze the ways they are apt to think and we then discuss different perspectives to see if we can land somewhere closer to reasonable explanations or expectations. It's not about being positive, but rather being open to the idea that perhaps there's more ways to interpret situations rather than the immediate one your brain suggests.

  • Experiential External link

Talk therapy is great and all and certainly we'll do a lot of it, but I believe that people get to where they want to go faster if they can actually experience things in-session. My background in this generally pulls from certain techniques you might see in IFS, Gestalt therapy, and somatic processing. Being creative and expressive can sometimes be uncomfortable, but trust me when I say it gets results!

  • Transpersonal External link

My natural inclination is to look at a person from a holistic standpoint. I want to know what's going on in your mind, your body, as well as your spirit, which often means something outside of yourself. It could be nature, tarot, religion, or simply just vibes. my work helps people stay grounded while also reaching outside of themselves to gain perspective, connection, and growth.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

About 90% of those I work with have some kind of anxiety presentation so I'm well-versed in understanding its origins, manifestations, and more importantly, how to treat it. My goal is to help you let go of so that your particular brand of anxiety stops interfering with your life.

  • Personal Growth External link

My favorite clients are those simply wanting to improve themselves in some fashion. I love leaning into the growth and evolvement that all human beings and relationships are meant to be doing. It's not about fixing; it's about leveling up.

  • Adjustment Disorder External link

Life has so many changes and we sometimes struggle to adapt as efficiently or smoothly as we would like. I have a ton of experience in helping people navigate these changes and find new ways to exist within them.

  • Dissociative Disorder (DD) External link

I spent a lot of my youth reading about dissociative disorders and have been lucky enough to have several clients who identify as plurals. I approach this in a way that is wanted, which is different for everyone- it may be navigation, collaboration, or integration, but overall I see these presentations as a super power and love help people discover and utilize their strengths.
