My Ideal Client

I work to bring together reflection, compassion, and practical tools that support growth and healing. My background in education, leadership, and mental health allows me to view your experiences from many angles—emotional, intellectual, cultural, and systemic - from an Adlerian framing that overlaps each of my therapeutic integrations.

My Background and Approach

A snapshot of my therapeutic lens:  Adlerian Individual Psychology My leadership studies & philosophical training complement Adlerian emphases on social interest, encouragement, lifestyle analysis, & purpose-driven behavior.  CBT & Gestalt Therapy My training in logic, behaviorism, & group counseling align with CBT’s structured problem-solving; my experience with existential & experiential learning supports Gestalt’s focus on awareness & growth.  Reality Therapy My background in goal setting, ethical leadership,& developmental psychology reinforces a focus on choice, responsibility, & personal empowerment.  Person-Centered, Existential, & Behavioral Theories Grounded in humanistic values & informed a rigorous ethics education, my work aligns with the Rogerian emphasis on empathy & authenticity.  Constructivist & Rational Behavioral Therapies I integrate constructivist and rational behavioral practices that honor clients' internal logic & evolving self-concept.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I come to this work with a deep passion for human development, individual growth, and cultivating personal efficacy. My experience across three disciplines helped me develop skills that support clients from all walks of life regardless of race/ethnicity/culture composition & regional socialization, gender presentation, designated or affirmed sex, partnership orientations/compositions, occupation & socio-economic status, residence & residency statuses, education background, neurotype, & spiritual affiliations. As a multi-ethnic counselor, whose identity includes the kaleidoscope of Creole cultural overlaps in Africana, Latinè, and First Nation diasporas, I bring a unique understanding of how identity, culture, history, and tradition influence and affirm how we as people orient ourselves to the world. I encourage clients to ground themselves in their realities that affirm their foundations for future growth and personal evolution.

My current regression analysis research centering PTSD, Suicidality, Culturally Competent Diagnosis, and Women of Color / Women of the Global South is a continuation of my pursuit to work effectively for and with marginalized and under-studied populations to find effective approaches to the care and wellbeing of underserved populations. From this work I have learned how to seek and employ appropriate interventions that fit the needs of the individual with consideration for their experiences.
