My Ideal Client

I enjoy working with individuals who consider themselves to be complex. Being human is a messy, complicated endeavor and my joyous work is to be with each one of my clients as they navigate their self discovery. From complicate relationships, to multifaceted health issues, to complex trauma, I will be there along side my clients as we peel back the layers to create health and freedom.

My Approach to Helping

I have a eclectic approach which is based upon the needs of my client at that time. I believe that the person, or people, that I am working with hold the wisdom to find happiness and healing. My role is to facilitate their goals through use of in depth exploration of the psyche, reflection and behavioral modification within the context of a safe space. I have a strong medical background and believe that people need to be treated as a whole system. This includes mind, body, spirit and relationships.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a background in developmental psychology, nutrition, eastern, western and natural medicine, as well as midwifery. I received my B.S. in Health Psychology from Bastyr University and my M.A. in Counseling with and emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I have clinical experience working with individuals, couples, children and families.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Attachment Theory External link

I often find that a person's attachment style is one of the strongest factors in how they related to the world and other people. When working with children I always hold their early experiences in mind and take them into account when working toward goals. The issues that couples face can often be traced to their attachment pattern. My role is to help translate each person's needs to their partner.

  • Couples Counseling External link

I really enjoy working with couples of all backgrounds to help them communicate more effectively and flourish as partners in life, as well as individuals. I often use Non-violent communication, Emotionally focused couples therapy and Gottman method techniques. LBGTQ friendly.

  • Depth Therapy External link

While I am experienced in, and often use a wide range of therapeutic approaches, I am heart and soul a depth psychotherapist. I was trained at one of the only depth psychology schools in the country, Pacifica Graduate Institute. For those unfamiliar with depth psychology, I describe it as an approach that takes a person's unconscious into account just as much as the presenting issues.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Women's Issues External link

As a women, mother, wife and human being, I hold women's issues very close to my heart. Specifically, I work with pregnancy and birth experience, grief, health issues and identity. My published Master's thesis is on the topic of child birth as a rite of passage.

  • Parenting External link

Parenting can be a very fulfilling and life changing journey; yet it is also challenging and can push a parent or couple to their limits. I offer a space to explore the new identity of being a parent, parenting consulting/ advice and way to cope with the challenges that arise from the blessings that are our children. I strongly identify with attachment theory and practices.

  • Family Conflict External link

Sometimes families are in conflict because they are unable to hear what another is saying or understand where they are coming from. I work with families to effectively communicate and compromise, so everyone can feel heard and valued within the family unit.

  • Codependency External link
  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

I love working with people to help them find ways to live well together. I am open to seeing couples of all orientations and backgrounds. Some of the issues I specialize in are parenting, sexual issues, health, finances, infidelity and effective communication.
